It's official - Stumptown Mom is a real, live website.
What can you expect?
Only the best, up-to-date info on resources, ideas and information on being a mom (or dad) in Portland. Look to us to find info on birthing classes, places to find those must-have baby supplies, stocking your kids' library on the cheap, and everything in between.
Why Stumptown Mom?
As an expectant mom and a researcher by nature, I spent a lot of time asking questions and trying to find information. I spent way too long searching for info on new moms groups, where to buy slings, and just wanted one place to find all that information. I email resources and information to all of my friends (they might wish I didn't!). I guess you can call me a resource junkie. There's nothing I like more than having all the info - having the inside scoop and knowing where to find things.
Once I started talking to mama friends about my research frustrations, the more I heard the same thing -- we need one place to go to find what we need. Stumptown Mom was born.
Who the heck is Stumptown Mom anyway?
I'm just a regular mom addicted to resource sharing. Strange, I know, but true. Ask any of my friends who get my constant emails with info on the latest kid-friendly happening, discount day at Value Village or tip on dealing with newborn sleep regressions.
I'm the mom of an energetic toddler preschooler. After years working in the nonprofit and government worlds, I now work part-time as a breastfeeding instructor and (sometimes) postpartum doula. I love working with new families and supporting them through this special (and sometimes really challenging) time. I also serve on the board of the Northwest Mothers Milk Bank and volunteer with the Nursing Mothers Counsel. Oh yeah, and now I'm a blogger!
